The benefits of using your own SKY API Key with Blackbaud include faster and more reliable API syncs, custom access control, and enhanced security. This article covers how to use your Blackbaud SKY API Key with Momentum.
Step 1: Retrieve Your Momentum Application ID
- The first time you log into Momentum, you'll see a Momentum Application ID. Copy it.
- From this screen, click on the Blackbaud Marketplace hyperlink and login to the Marketplace. Make sure you access the Marketplace with Admin permissions.
- Navigate to the Manage tab in Marketplace, select Connect app, and paste the Application ID into the field. Then, click Connect.
- Back in Momentum, select the checkbox for I have completed the first step in RE NXT.
Step 2: Retrieve Your API Key
- Once you've connected your Application ID, navigate to Blackbaud Developer Subscriptions. If you do not have an account, visit Blackbaud Developers and log in with your Blackbaud credentials. Admin permissions may be necessary to access certain features.
- Find the Primary Access Key in your account.

Click Show, then Copy to Clipboard.
Step 3: Integrate with Momentum
- Navigate to Momentum.
- Go to Settings.
- Under CRM Connection, click on Set Custom API Key.
- Paste your copied API Key.
- Click Save.
Note: Only a Momentum Org Admin can set the API key.
Important Security Information
- Do not share your API keys with anyone.
- Avoid writing down your API keys.
- Ensure they are stored securely.
Note: If you ever regenerate your Blackbaud API key, you will need to repeat these steps from the beginning and replace your key in Momentum.
