AI Donor Bios generate a summary of each donor using the information already stored in your CRM. This helps fundraisers quickly understand who a donor is, how they engage with your organization, and how best to build the relationship.
Instead of forcing the fundraiser to review multiple CRM fields, notes, and engagement records, Momentum compiles the key information into a single readable bio for you.
Overview of AI Donor Bios
AI Donor Bios analyze the first-party data in your CRM and generate a structured summary of the donor relationship. This includes:
- Donor Summary
- Philanthropic Interests
- Estimated Giving Capacity
- Preferred Engagement Approach
- Relationship Building Opportunities
- Strategic Notes
The goal is to help fundraisers quickly understand the donor and prepare for meaningful outreach.
How AI Bios Are Built
AI Bios analyze information already stored in your CRM and synced to Momentum, such as:
- Gift history
- Email interactions
- Event attendance
- Volunteer engagement
- Internal notes
- All other engagement history
Momentum aggregates this information and generates a readable donor bio based on the full relationship history.
Generating an AI Donor Bio
AI Donor Bios can be generated for an individual donor from the record, in bulk for multiple donors from a list, or by building an Engagement Plan.
To generate an AI Bio directly from a donor record:
- Open the Constituents tab.
- Search for the donor you want to review.
- Locate the AI Donor Bio section on the donor record.
- Click the refresh button to create one.
5. Momentum will analyze the donor's CRM data and create the summary. Once generated, the Bio section will appear with a button to view the AI Bio.
To generate AI Bios for multiple donors at once:
- Open your Portfolio or List in table view.
- Use the checkboxes to select multiple donors or select all.
- The bulk actions menu will automatically open. Select Generate AI Bios.
Momentum will generate the Bios in the background. When processing is complete, you will receive an email notification.
Using AI Bios with Engagement Plans
AI Bios are designed to work together with Engagement Plans. Once a Bio is generated, you can use it to build a donor strategy. AI Bios can also be generated directly from the Engagement Plan. Once you’ve chosen your donor to build a plan for, Momentum will prompt you to generate and review the donor’s AI Bio. If you have edits or corrections to make, click Edit to modify the bio.
Once finished, click Continue to Plan. The AI will suggest outreach steps designed to guide the donor toward their next best gift opportunity. Click here to learn more about Engagement Plans.
Best Practices
- Review bios before using them: AI bios summarize CRM data but may not capture important relationship details. Always review and edit when necessary.
- Start with top donors: When first using AI bios, start with donors you know well. This makes it easier to validate the information and refine the bios.
