This guide explains what an Admin needs to know to support your organization's use of Momentum, whether you're setting up Momentum during onboarding or joining as an Admin after your organization is already live. Being a Momentum Admin means knowing the platform the way any fundraiser does, as well as understanding the Admin Settings and your CRM integration.

Onboarding
If your organization is currently in onboarding, you'll work directly with a Virtuous Implementation Manager. Here's what to expect: your team kicks off onboarding with your Implementation Manager to set goals for Momentum. Then, together you’ll configure your email, CRM, and each user account. During this time, you’ll have training on the platform including the self-guided Virtuous Academy and live sessions with the onboarding team. Your role during this phase is to make configuration decisions alongside your Implementation Manager and confirm your team completes training. Then your team is ready to begin logging their first actions. To see the full walkthrough of your Momentum implementation, see this Onboarding Guide.
If your organization has already completed onboarding but you are a new Momentum user, the setup work is done. You will not configure the CRM integration or Admin Settings. Use the following steps to learn more about the platform, understand your CRM’s integration, and practice everything a fundraiser needs to know to be successful in Momentum.
Momentum Academy Course
The Virtuous Momentum Academy course walks you through platform fluency including learning how to navigate your Inbox, create and use AI and mail merge Templates, schedule donor outreach for yourself and others on your team, organize your portfolio into appropriate Segments and Lists, and understand and set up Automations, Cadences, and Prospecting. Once you've finished the course, consider taking the Virtuous Momentum Administrator Certification, as is recommended for Admins to get the most out of the platform. Navigating Momentum
Momentum's main sections are the Inbox, Outbox, Constituents, Workspace, and Reports.
- Inbox is your daily action hub for drafting and sending personalized outreach, responding to donor replies, and staying on top of follow-ups.
- Outbox shows the outreach you've made at a glance.
- The Constituents tab holds all of your people, including your overall Portfolio, Segments (or strategic groups based on donor journeys), and Lists (temporary groups for short-term needs).
- Workspace is the brain of Momentum and includes your Templates, Cadences, Automations, Prospecting, and your Profile where you set up the AI Writer.
- New Action in the top right lets you manually log or schedule emails, calls, cards, and letters, while Profile Options let you dismiss old scheduled actions, turn on Assistant Mode, and access settings. For the full walkthrough, see Orientation: Navigating the Platform.

Add Your Email Signature
Before sending emails through Momentum, you need to load your email signature to include it in any emails sent from Momentum. Click here to learn how to add your email signature.
Review Your CRM Integration
Momentum stays in sync with your organization's CRM, so fundraisers never enter data twice. Your Implementation Manager sets up the integration during onboarding, but Admins should understand the basics to know what syncs and where to look if something looks off. Admin Settings
Admin Settings control how Momentum connects to your CRM, manages email sync, and assigns donor Portfolios. For most organizations, these are configured during onboarding, but it may be helpful to review these settings configurations and align Fundraiser Assignments to your CRM structure. For a full breakdown of the Admin Setting areas, learn more in this Admin Settings support article.
Practice Fluency in the Platform
New fundraisers can build fluency in Momentum by practicing the fundamental actions at their own pace. Use these resources to become familiar with the
- Self-Guided Training: Learn the fundamentals at your own pace including the Inbox, Segments, Lists, the AI Writer, and Workspace tools like Templates, Cadences, and Prospecting.
- Post-Training: Week 1: Apply the fundamentals by finishing your User Bio and Org Bio, getting oriented in the Inbox, organizing your portfolio into a few Segments and Lists, and sending your first real outreach with AI-drafted messages.
- Post-Training: Week 2: Build repeatable workflows by creating a few AI Templates, setting up a Cadence, activating Prospecting on a List or Segment, enabling Automations for routine triggers, and reviewing your Actions and Reports.
Troubleshooting and New Users
Admins are the point of contact when something needs attention, such as a sync issue or a new team member who needs a Momentum account seat. You do not need to solve these alone:
- To submit a support request, email momentum.support@virtuous.org
- For account-specific questions or request a new User, contact your Customer Success Manager.
